Messe Frankfurt stand regulations: organize the technical review

Find the right Messe Frankfurt technical documents and prepare a stand-review register covering drawings, materials, responsibilities and revision control.

Start with the current document set

The official Messe Frankfurt builder information portal is the starting point for technical guidance and planning documents. Match the documents to the event edition, venue and hall. Save the relevant revision in the project record and note where event-specific instructions supplement it. A search result, an old PDF or another exhibitor's experience is not a reliable substitute for the applicable document set.

Assign a person to obtain and interpret the requirements before design freeze. That person should be able to ask the organizer questions and obtain information from the designer and production team. Keep unresolved questions visible in the programme. If a requirement affects geometry or structural design, it should be resolved before those components are manufactured.

Review the features that need explicit decisions

Prepare a design feature list covering dimensions, heights, enclosed spaces, overhead elements, exhibits, materials, lighting and service routes. The appointed technical specialist should identify which features require drawings, calculations, certificates or specific venue review. This list is a planning aid, not a statement that every listed item requires the same submission at every event.

Do not publish or rely on one universal height limit for all Messe Frankfurt stands. Check the actual hall and event conditions, along with the allocated boundaries and neighbouring-space requirements. Where the design depends on rigging, service positions or other venue infrastructure, obtain the applicable information before promising the solution to the client.

Use a submission and revision register

For each technical item, record the document needed, author, reviewer, due date from the organizer and current status. Distinguish submitted from accepted, and record questions or conditions attached to a response. A submission email is not necessarily approval. Keep the approved drawing revision available to the workshop and site supervisor.

If the client changes the design after review, ask the technical lead whether another check or submission is needed. Do not allow a new render to overwrite the production issue without recording the change. A simple revision register protects both the agency's design intent and the builder from manufacturing against an outdated assumption.

Connect approval to services and installation

Technical acceptance does not automatically purchase electricity, internet, handling or other event services. Maintain a separate order register with the responsible account holder, specification and confirmation. Reconcile those orders with the latest plan. A revised counter or demonstration position can change where a connection is needed even if the overall stand size is unchanged.

Before dispatch, review the approved drawings, service confirmations, material records, packing list and venue-access arrangements together. The on-site lead needs an escalation route for discrepancies. BuildAcross's role can include coordinating this record for a project, but technical decisions and venue acceptance remain with the responsible specialists and organizer. Always resolve conflicts in favour of the current official requirement, not this guide.

Frequently asked questions

Questions agencies ask

What is the maximum stand height at Messe Frankfurt?

Do not use a single generic figure. Check the current technical documents for the actual hall, allocated stand and event, and confirm the proposed design with the responsible technical contact.

Does client design approval authorize construction?

No. Commercial design sign-off, technical review and venue service orders are separate records that must all be addressed where applicable.
